For over 265 years, the Appleton Estate has been crafting authentic premium rum using time-honored traditions passed down through generations. The Appleton Estate is comprised of 11,000 acres of fields in the Nassau valley. The valley sits at the foot of the Santa Cruz Mountains and is watered by the Black River. Thanks to the tour, you will learn why Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum is one of the finest rum in the world. From the earliest methods of extraction juice from the sugarcane through to the distilling process in their 200-year-old pot stills, to the final rest in the ageing house.

The Appleton Estate tour provides an enjoyable tour of one of Jamaica’s most popular attractions. The journey begins with a cool glass of their Appleton estate rum punch. You will then take a guided tour of the estate’s artifacts which tell the unique history of Appleton rum. You will get to see first-hand how they create their unique rums while you savor their Appleton rums, which are both delicious, complex and aromatic.

The sampling of the rum is one of the most popular part of the tour. Go on a rum production tour and experience firsthand the historic production process of Appleton Estate’s rum, a process which continues to this day. You will get the opportunity to sample a variety of rum produced at the Appleton Estate. You even get to take a mini bottle of rum to savor at home. The estate also has a gift shop on site so that you can purchase souvenirs and various bottles of Appleton rum. A bar with food and drink is also available.

The Appleton Estate was founded in 1655 and is believed to be the land payment made to Francis Dickson for his role in the English capture of Jamaica from the Spanish. His two grandsons, Caleb and Ezekiel, are the earliest known owners of the estate. It was not until 1749 that the estate began producing rum. Appleton Rum grew in popularity during World War II when a rum was sought to supplement the insufficient supplies of Whisky on the Island. Appleton became the rum of choice due to its smoothness and lightness. Appleton Rum Estate currently produces around 10 million litres of rum per year and 160 tons of sugar a day. The Estate welcomes indivudual and group tours from Monday to Saturday starting at 9:00AM. The last tour commences at approximately 3.30 p.m. Tours are not offered on Sundays. Reservations are not required unless you would like to include lunch in your tour.
